常用于文學，指人一生中像花綻放期一樣最富有生機、最活躍的年輕時代。

Coming up roses 一切進展順利
這個說法用來形容事情發(fā)展的狀況盡如人意。
The last time I saw her, she was struggling with debt—but everything is coming up roses for her now.
我上次見到她時，她還債務纏身，但她現(xiàn)在的生活一切順利。
Bed of roses 稱心如意的處境
“玫瑰花床”聽起來既美好又舒適，指安樂、事事如意的處境，人們多使用其否定式，即not a bed of roses或not all roses來勸他人，不要認為萬事都如玫瑰花一樣甜美如意。
Sooner or later he’ll grow up and realize that life is not a bed of roses.
他早晚會長大，并且意識到人生并非總是稱心如意的。
Olive branch “橄欖枝”，和解的意愿
橄欖枝是和平的象征，現(xiàn)代漢語里也有“向某人伸出橄欖枝”的表達，指對某人表示和解的意愿。
The company held out an olive branch to their competitors to end the recent dispute but none of them accepted it. 
為停止近期的爭議，該公司向競爭對手伸出了橄欖枝，但沒有一家接受和解。
The primrose path 享樂的歧途
“報春花之路”常用于文學，意思是會招致不好的后果的，追求享樂和安逸的生活方式。
Their misunderstanding of the message ‘carpe diem’ has led them down the primrose path to hedonism.
他們對“及時享樂”的誤解將他們引入了享樂主義的歧途。
Late bloomer 大器晚成的人
Late bloomer原指開花晚的植物，也可以形容那些和他人相比較晚掌握技巧、發(fā)揮潛力或取得成功的人。
She proved to be a late bloomer by winning the Olympic gold medal at the age of 40.
她四十歲時獲得了奧運會金牌，是一個大器晚成的人。
Shrinking violet 容易害羞的人
表達“害羞的紫羅蘭”形容的是極為害羞、謙卑，且不愿引人注意的人，常用于否定句。
He is no shrinking violet when it comes to singing.
他唱歌的時候可一點也不害羞。
